What this service is

Supalime lets photographers upload event photographs and share them with their clients and guests, including an optional face-matching feature that helps a guest find the photographs they appear in.

Your account

You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your email secure, since we sign you in by emailing a code to it.

One account is for one photographer or business. You can invite collaborators to specific albums without giving them your login.

Your photographs stay yours

You keep all rights in everything you upload. We claim no ownership and no licence to use your work for our own purposes. We store it, serve it to the people you choose, and nothing else.

We will never use your photographs to train any model, our own or anyone else's.

What you promise us

That you have the right to upload what you upload, and the right to share it with the people you share it with. That includes having whatever permission is needed from the people appearing in the photographs.

This matters more than usual here, because the face-matching feature computes biometric data from the people in your photographs. If you switch it on for an album, you are confirming you have the right to do that.

For data protection purposes you are the controller of your clients' and guests' personal data. We are your processor under the GDPR, which Singapore's PDPA calls a data intermediary. Both words describe the same arrangement: you decide what is collected and why, and we act on your instructions.

That is not a formality, and it has consequences you should know before you switch face matching on:

  • The lawful basis for scanning faces is yours to establish. Under the GDPR, biometric data used to identify someone is a special category and normally needs explicit consent. Our gallery asks each guest for that consent before the camera opens, and records it. Whether it is valid for your event, in your jurisdiction, is your call to make.
  • If a guest asks who holds their data, the answer is you. Requests to access, correct or delete come to you first. We will help you carry them out, and we will act on your instruction rather than decide it ourselves.
  • Settings that change what guests are asked are yours. Whether a gallery collects guest details, and whether the marketing consent box starts ticked, are per-event choices in your settings. We record who changed them and when. We default them to the more cautious option; choosing otherwise is a decision you are making as controller.

We will tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting your guests' data, so that you can meet your own notification duties.

What we will never do with face data. We do not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from biometric identifiers or biometric information. Face data is used for one thing: finding photographs within the gallery it came from. Never across galleries, never to identify anyone elsewhere, never for advertising, and never to train models.

Where you photograph matters. Some places regulate face data far more strictly than others. Illinois in particular gives people a direct right to sue over biometric data collected without written consent. You are the controller, so meeting the law where you and your subjects are is your responsibility, and you confirm you have the right to photograph and to run face matching on the people in your images. If you work somewhere with a specific biometric statute, take advice before switching face matching on.

How long we keep your galleries

Paid accounts: your galleries stay for as long as your subscription is active. We will not remove them for inactivity.

Free accounts: if you do not sign in for 6 months, we will email you three times over the following three months. If you still have not signed in, your galleries go dark to guests. For a further month after that they can be restored simply by signing in. After that they are deleted and cannot be recovered.

Signing in at any point during that process stops it completely. Every warning email also contains a one-click link that keeps your galleries without needing to sign in.

Keep your own copies of your work. This service is for delivering photographs to clients. It is not a backup.

Storage limits

Each plan includes an amount of storage. Uploads are refused once you reach it. Storage is measured across every version of a photograph we keep: the original, a web-sized copy, and a thumbnail.

Payment

Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe. You can cancel any time, and your plan runs until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund partial periods.

If a payment fails we will retry and email you. If it keeps failing, the account drops to the free plan, and the free retention rules above begin to apply.

Things we do not promise

We work hard to keep the service up, but we do not guarantee it will never be unavailable. We are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you have paid us in the previous 12 months.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending things

You can close your account whenever you like. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, in particular one uploading material it has no right to upload.

Changes

We will email account holders about material changes. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept them.
